Services & prices
These are my standard prices for standard work. Heavy fabrics, beading, linings and unusual constructions take longer, so those I quote in person once I have the garment in my hands. Nothing gets started before you know the price.
Two things before you come
Wash cotton and linen first. Anything containing more than 40% cotton or linen should be washed before any alteration — otherwise it shrinks afterwards and the fit is lost.
Bring your shoes, and the right bra. If you want a dress shortened, the shoes set the length and the underlayer changes the way the bodice sits. Bring both and we only do it once.
Wedding dresses
from $400
Quoted after a first fitting — how much comes in, whether the gown is beaded or lined, and whether it needs a bustle all change the work. Please call ahead. Bridesmaids and mothers of the bride are priced as ordinary dresses above.
Prices are a guide for standard garments and standard fabrics, and may change without notice. Credit and debit card payments carry a 4% surcharge; cash and cheque do not.
Beyond alterations
I trained in fashion design before I trained as a seamstress, and a good part of my work is still things that do not exist yet. Bring a sketch, a photograph, or an old garment you want reworked into a new one.
Talk it through — (630) 885-9070Made to measure, or a batch fitted to a team.
Performance pieces built to survive being danced in.
Hand and machine work, on garments or framed.
Fitted to the body it is going to be worn on.
Sewing Atelier
Bring it in. Two minutes with the garment in hand and I can tell you exactly what it needs and what it will cost.
